"All year the half-bloods have been preparing for battle against the Titans, knowing the odds of a victory are grim. Kronos’s army is stronger than ever, and with every god and half-blood he recruits, the evil Titan’s power only grows.
While the Olympians struggle to contain the rampaging monster Typhon, Kronos begins his advance on New York City, where Mount Olympus stands virtually unguarded. Now it’s up to Percy Jackson and an army of young demigods to stop the Lord of Time.
In this momentous final book in the New York Times best-selling series, the long-awaited prophecy surrounding Percy’s sixteenth birthday unfolds. And as the battle for Western civilization rages on the streets of Manhattan, Percy faces a terrifying suspicion that he may be fighting against his own fate."
The Last Olympian was a truly amazing ending to the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. The final battle between Percy and Kronos was exciting and full of surprises - as was the road leading there.
Also, the prophecy that has been dangling over all of out heads the whole series is finally revealed. True to form, it's pretty vague and full of double meanings.
"A half-blood of the eldest Gods, Shall reach sixteen against all odds, And see the world in endless sleep, Cursed blade hero's soul shall reap, A single choice shall end his days, Olympus to preserve or raze."
Good luck solving that riddle.
So, of course, the demigods win and Kronos is stopped - to know how, you'll have to read the book if you haven't already - and the series ends with Olympus and Camp Half-Blood reconstructing, and with the promise of more to come in the next series: Heroes of Olympus.
I'll see you all again in: Heroes of Olympus: The Lost Hero.
